all of my previous entries from here have been imported, with added functionality, picture zoom, tag clouds links and most importantly an rss feed (IM SURE YOU HAVE SEEN THESE BEFORE BUT IN CASE YOU DIDNT KNOW AN RSS FEED IS LIKE A BOOK MARK THAT "LIVES") when you hover over it it updates it self and shows you the last 10 or so entries so you can check for updates without actually visiting the page.

Enjoy the new site...

Im not a horticulturalist or what ever they call themselves these days niether do i like photographing objects that move with the slightest breeze but there is something captivating about a carpet of blubells in the woods, i have been trying to get out for a month to the local woods ideally at sunrise, but the oportuinty hasn't risen. i went out at lunchtime on tuesday in a vain hope to capture something of what was wilting very fast and being smothered by the vasst and fastly grwoing new shoots of the greenery arround. this is what i found.

Durdle Dorr, Dorset

Fancy a trip to Dorest? he said, what for? i said, The Durdle Door he said, but the light is awful and the forecast is rubbish i said, we can go anyway just to see how far it is he said.

Do you know the wayi Said ? yes
On arrival at Ringwood (1/2 way), which way now? So we stopped and checked the map as i was unsure weather to go through Bournemouth onto Poole and then down or all the way round it down the minor roads, after a quick consultation i announced " I know where we are going" Refering to which of the above 2 choices to take, on arrival at Swanage via Corfe Castle clearly being able to see the sea it was evident we had taken the wrong turn, "I know where we are going" he quoted my earlier saying..... back track a few miles and soon we arrive at the Cliff edge at Lullworth, all the gear out of the van packed up like mules, have you packed the spoon for the tea? i said, check, water check, stove, check cups, check milk n sugar check, off we went down a very steep hill 20 mins later arriving at one of the most awsome natural coves i have ever seen, all set up and ready to go. Fancy a tea? he said, yes please. stove out, water on  cups ..... wheres the tea bags?   i think they call it karma.
 any how enjoy the picture

Results of a recent trip out, and a very nice day it was, as always Accompanied by the great [info]jfridlington .
The Clifton Suspension Bridge, a grand Structure design by Mr Isombard Kingdom Brunel at the megre age of 24 years young, the first stone was laid in 1831, with the project being abandoned in 1843 with only the towers complete, Brunel died aged 53 in 1859 and shortly after the bridge was completed as a memorial to him and finally opened in 1864. Now a toll bridge it nets approx £5500 a day in revenue at 50p a time that's a lot of cars, which makes photographing with out cars almost impossible.

Photography is all about timing, you wait till everything is just right the subject is ready and then the only thing left is the right lighting ......
so being 30 mins late for dusk is a real problem if you want a good sky with your subject......another failed trip to spinnaker tower... but all is not lost
a quick trip across a field, hedge, brambles and [info]jfridlington's 2 soggy feet later. and you end up with something like this.

A weekend off they don't happen often so my self and [info]jfridlington took advantage of what the met office promised to be clear skies and a partly cloudy day, alas we were lied to AGAIN !
it was a long drive to Liverpool only to find out that the met office have a disclaimer on their website which basicly allows them to forecast complete fabrications with no obligation to be factual in any way.
so we made the best of what we had

Well its been a busy few months and haven't had chance to post anything for a while so i do have some pictures to post but will start with the most recent last night saw a return trip to Halnaker windmill, after many visits with shots being either out of focus or nosiy or too dark, i think jonathan and i have finally cracked it. well i damn well hope so because carrying all our equipment up that hill its a chore, even though we cheated twice.
one night we were chatting and i looked at jon and said is that a chinnok chopper i can hear?
after a few seconds we concured and went back to chatting, few mins later saw it brow the hill in the distance it was flyign very low it was heading in our direction  it flew straight for us at about 30ft above the ground it disappeared into the valley below us and then suddenly rose from behind the windmill about 20 ft of the ground the tail opened and it lower down almost landing some lights changed colour and then it rose tilting backwards almost going upside down and flew off in a large circle back over us before disappearing into the distance wher it came from....harmless but quite frightening too.

So as you can see from picture number 1 key thing is for a long shoot its good to have some comforts around you, and as it turned out it was going to be a long night.
Equipment

as we arrived a light shower came over the top of us and then the sun set producing some amazing colours and a rainbow i took several shots with the rainbow very clear in them all excpet for this one which has the best cloud colour you can see the rainbow just!
Rainbow & Sunset Over Halnaker

As light was fading fast it was essential to get the camera on the windmill so i could get it in focus for later but decided to be cheeky and push my luck which paid of with the next picture it needs little else in the way of a description.

After a couple of very polite phone calls and the assistance of Nicola (very nice lady) the Duty Manager at the tower i was able to find out that the lights would be blue and on at 9.30 ish, and if i asked nicely they would let us have access to the podium above the entrance to the tower. so i rang Jon and told him the good news and we set  of again in time to have a look and even get something to eat before what could have been a long night. with free reign of what position to shoot from it was a difficult choice plus with the added bonus of no having bit of other buildings in the shot i was like a kid in a candy store. Unfortunately  for me i choose a bad position and when i got home 98% of my pictures were unusable due to light reflecting badly which i didn't notice on the previews. so here is the best of what was good. And hoping for better luck next time.
